Vivid are just down the road from our Birmingham studio, and we’ve been great admirers of their ‘Pioneers’ season, featuring Turner Prize winner Douglas Gordon, Haroon Mirza, recently awarded the Northern Arts Prize, and Karen Kihlberg & Reuben Henry, to name just a few. So when they approached us to design a brochure commemorating the season we were naturally enthusiastic.

That enthusiasm was dented slightly when we saw the size of their print budget. It was obvious we’d need to think differently if we were going to do it justice.

And think differently we did. Using a combination of postcard printing, an ancient Risograph machine and some hard graft we were able to produce a 62 page ring bound brochure with loads of full colour images. Not only that, but it also uses two different GF Smith stocks and has an emboss on the cover. How’s that for ingenuity?
