Skills Development Scotland
Skills Development Scotland turned to D8 for help when their organisation was looking to manage the transition from four separate organisations to one single entity. As part of a series of staff workshops, they required a way of enabling staff to share ideas and best practices learnt at these events, and to share documents, images, videos and other responses to the workshops.
To achieve this, D8 designed and developed a secure intranet website, using elements of social networking websites like shoutboxes and messageboards, and combined them with live image and video feeds from Flickr and YouTube. Users can use the site to keep in touch with one another, to upload multimedia content and share it easily with their peers. They can also add tags to their contributions so they can be easily categorised and retrieved. The site was presented in a visually-rich 'noticeboard' style, using photographic textures and objects to create a familiar-looking environment for users to share their ideas.
