East Ayrshire Council Libraries & Local Office

In 2005, 3D8 were appointed to design the new look and feel for the libraries and local offices within East Ayrshire council.

The primary challenge was to design a contemporary community facility which was accessible to the whole community and to create a welcoming space that encouraged people to use their local library.

3D8 were responsible for producing all design information including producing electrical, lighting & furniture layouts, scaled detail drawings of all bespoke furniture components, specifications of all furniture and materials.

In addition, 3D8 were asked to design the brand guidelines document to help assist the EAC technical services team in rolling out the concept across all the libraries and local offices proposed after the two year contract period expired. The flagship new look library and local office in Stewarton, opened in July 2008.

"Working with 3D8 design team generated discussion, raised expectations and brought us a wide range of experience and opportunity. It was stimulating, demanding enlightening and enjoyable." Gerard Cairns, Library Registration and Information Services Manager
