Merchant City Festival

12 July 2011

We’ve been working with the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau on campaigns and destination marketing for a few years now. Last year’s Merchant City Festival attracted 70,000 attendees, half of whom came from outside Glasgow, bringing over £640,000 into the local economy, and we like to think we helped with that.

This year marks the four-day Festival’s tenth anniversary, with 130 events taking place across 54 venues under various ‘strands’ including dance, music, street arts, theatre, visual arts and comedy. We’ve delivered all the marketing and collateral again this year, which features a sports theme in anticipation of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the city’s hosting of eight Olympic football matches at Hampden as part of London 2012.

As well as taking care of the design, we art directed photography to illustrate the sports theme, featuring participants from Get Set GlasGOw – a major dance piece that will run during the festival, involving 100 dancers from three local companies.
