At D8 we like nothing better than donning our posh frocks and dickie bows, grabbing the opera glasses and heading of for a ‘bit o’ cultcha’. So when we were asked to design the opera event of the season we could hardly say no.

The hotly anticipated collaboration between Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and The Opera Group, Seven Angels is the first opera by composer Luke Bedford, with libretto by Glyn Maxwell and a stunning stage set by visual artist Tadasu Takamine. Called one of the ‘classical events of the season’ by the Guardian, and ‘unmissable’ by BBC Music Magazine, the opera premiered at Birmingham’s CBSO centre on June 17, before heading out on a national tour which takes in Glasgow’s Tramway and London’s Royal Opera House along the way.
